Tenth and eleventh grade students who may be interested in participating in an innovative program that develops leadership skills and empowers them to become involved in the community may want to consider applying to be a part of The Community Foundation of South Alabama Youth Grant Allocation Board (YGAB). For more information, please see Mrs. Thurston in the Counseling Office as soon as possible.
YGAB members participate in the grant making process with The Community Foundation. They will learn about nonprofit organizations, perform a community needs assessment, collectively decide on the types of programs they would like to fund, develop a Request for Proposals, evaluate grant applications, select grant recipients and formally award grants during a public ceremony in the spring.
Participants must have the time to commit to one Saturday morning meeting each month and have their own transportation to meetings. In addition to monthly meetings, there will be opportunities to participate in fundraising and service projects.

During the 2009-10 school year, Lila Sefat-Senior, Katie Volkman-Sophomore, and Mary Lindsey Hannahan-Sophomore served on the YGAB. These three students were honored at a recent banquet for their hard work and dedication to community service and the fundraising process of the YGAB Endowment.
