Opening of School Information 2010

July 29, 2010

Dear St. Paul’s Families,

The beginning of the 2010-2011 school year is almost here.  I trust that you have had a relaxing summer and are ready for the upcoming term.  There is a lot of excitement on our campus, as there is every year when school starts.

The opening of school information will not be mailed this year.  Instead, it can be accessed from the link below.  Please be sure to review this important information to ensure you have a smooth start to the new school term.

In an effort to improve our communication with parents, we are beginning the process of implementing an Online Campus Community at St. Paul’s.  It will take twelve to eighteen months to complete this implementation.  We expect the Online Community to be fully operational at the beginning of the 2011-2012 academic year.  We will post most information on our website instead of mailing it, so we ask for your cooperation in checking Grade Level Mail on a regular basis.

Plans for this academic year are being completed, as are the usual maintenance and beautification projects.  Good news about our school and our students has come on many fronts. The College Board has notified us that we have another large number of National Merit High Scorers.  Our faculty are excited about the start of the year because of their collaborative work this summer to create new and exciting lesson plans for our students.  Many of our teachers have sacrificed weeks of their summer for training, and we all owe them our thanks.  Our athletes, after many hours of preparation, are ready to accept new challenges as seasons begin.  The rituals and traditions that make us who we are remain in place, and the 2010-2011 academic year will be as great as the ones that have come before it.

One personnel change of note for the coming year will involve the role of Victor Helmsing.  Victor, a long time teacher and advisor, last year took on the additional role of Associate Headmaster in addition to his teaching responsibilities.  This year, he will serve as Assistant Headmaster and Upper School Director.  His contributions to the School have been apparent to all members of the St. Paul’s family, and have never been as valuable as they are right now.

Again, I look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks, and thank you for giving us the privilege of being a part of the education of your child.

Yours truly,
F. Martin Lester, Jr.
Headmaster
